In 2021, Australia (X tons) was the key exporter of lithium cells ans batteries, committing 82% of total exports. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X tons), achieving an 18% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to lithium battery exports from Australia stood at +4.1%. At the same time, New Zealand (+13.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, New Zealand emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +13.6% from 2012-2021. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 32%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, lithium battery imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Australia (X tons) was the major importer of lithium cells ans batteries, achieving 73% of total imports. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X tons), comprising a 16% share of total imports. New Caledonia (X tons) and Fiji (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to lithium battery imports into Australia stood at -10.0%. At the same time, Fiji (+53.3%), New Caledonia (+33.4%) and New Zealand (+10.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Fiji emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +53.3% from 2012-2021. The second position in the ranking was taken by New Zealand ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Fiji, with a 1.7% share.

In Australia, lithium battery imports increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: New Zealand (+8.6% per year) and Fiji (+39.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country
