Total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +71.1% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Australia dominates imports structure, amounting to X litres, which was near 71% of total imports in 2022. New Caledonia (X litres) took the second position in the ranking, followed by French Polynesia (X litres). All these countries together took approx. 15% share of total imports. The following importers - Guam (X litres), New Zealand (X litres) and Marshall Islands (X litres) - together made up 9.9% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to mineral or aerated water imports into Australia stood at +4.5%. At the same time, Marshall Islands (+27.1%), New Zealand (+12.5%), New Caledonia (+7.4%) and Guam (+2.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Marshall Islands emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +27.1% from 2012-2022. French Polynesia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Australia (+2.6 p.p.), New Caledonia (+2.4 p.p.), New Zealand (+1.9 p.p.) and Marshall Islands (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while French Polynesia saw its share reduced by -2.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Australia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported mineral or aerated waters in Australia and Oceania, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by New Caledonia ($X), with a 7.7% share of total imports. It was followed by French Polynesia, with a 5.3% share.
In Australia, mineral or aerated water imports expanded at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: New Caledonia (+5.4% per year) and French Polynesia (-2.2% per year).
