The export price in Australia and Oceania stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 8.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a resilient increase. In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of motor boats and motor yachts, for pleasure or sports, when their volume decreased by -34.2% to X units. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 760% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
In value terms, motor boat imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 140% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Marshall Islands was the key importer of motor boats and motor yachts, for pleasure or sports in Australia and Oceania, with the volume of imports amounting to X units, which was approx. 81% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Palau (X units), constituting a 12% share of total imports. New Zealand (X units) held a little share of total imports.
Marshall Islands was also the fastest-growing in terms of the motor boats and motor yachts, for pleasure or sports imports, with a CAGR of +126.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Palau (+79.1%) and New Zealand (+10.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Marshall Islands (+80 p.p.) and Palau (+12 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of New Zealand (-18.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Marshall Islands ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported motor boats and motor yachts, for pleasure or sports in Australia and Oceania, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by New Zealand ($X), with a 7.5% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Marshall Islands totaled +62.2%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: New Zealand (+14.4% per year) and Palau (+22.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Australia and Oceania stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 83% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 112%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($X per unit), while Palau ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+3.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
