Exports in Australia and Oceania

Nails and tacks exports shrank dramatically to X tons in 2022, dropping by -18% on the year before. Overall, exports, however, showed a perceptible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 192%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, nails and tacks exports dropped to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +23.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 72%. Exports from Australia increased at an average annual rate of +10.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Fiji (+14.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Fiji emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +14.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, New Zealand (-7.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Australia (+36 p.p.) and Fiji (+2.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while New Zealand saw its share reduced by -38.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Australia ($X) remains the largest nails and tacks supplier in Australia and Oceania, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by New Zealand ($X), with a 26% share of total exports.

In Australia, nails and tacks exports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: New Zealand (-2.5% per year) and Fiji (+1.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Australia and Oceania stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the export price increased by 122% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, nails and tacks imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable downturn. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
