Exports in Australia and Oceania
After two years of decline, overseas shipments of non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles increased by 101% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a dramatic downturn. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, non-alloy aluminium bar exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a dramatic decrease. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
The shipments of the two major exporters of non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles, namely New Zealand and Australia, represented more than two-thirds of total export.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Australia (with a CAGR of -7.9%).
In value terms, the largest non-alloy aluminium bar supplying countries in Australia and Oceania were Australia ($X) and New Zealand ($X).
Among the main exporting countries, Australia, with a CAGR of -1.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Australia and Oceania stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw modest growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per ton), while New Zealand stood at $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+6.8%).

Imports in Australia and Oceania
After two years of decline, overseas purchases of non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles increased by 0.7% to X tons in 2021. Total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -36.3% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 58%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-alloy aluminium bar imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 72% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Australia (X tons) represented the key importer of non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles, making up 62% of total imports. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X tons), achieving a 32% share of total imports. Fiji (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Fiji (with a CAGR of +19.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
In value terms, Australia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles in Australia and Oceania, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by New Zealand ($X), with a 27% share of total imports.
In Australia, non-alloy aluminium bar imports contracted by an average annual rate of -5.3% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: New Zealand (+12.2% per year) and Fiji (+20.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Australia and Oceania stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 21% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a perceptible downturn. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per ton), while New Zealand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
