In 2021, overseas shipments of particle accelerators increased by 37% to X units, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, exports enjoyed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 5,384%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, particle accelerator exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports posted a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 340% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the one major exporters of particle accelerators, namely New Zealand, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

New Zealand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the particle accelerators exports, with a CAGR of +23.5% from 2012 to 2021. New Zealand (+72 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, New Zealand ($X) also remains the largest particle accelerator supplier in Australia and Oceania.

In New Zealand, particle accelerator exports expanded at an average annual rate of +26.8% over the period from 2012-2021.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Australia and Oceania stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -10.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 5,786%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for New Zealand.

Imports in Australia and Oceania

Particle accelerator imports totaled X units in 2021, increasing by 2.8% against 2020. Overall, imports, however, recorded a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 435%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, particle accelerator imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 536% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

New Zealand was the main importer of particle accelerators in Australia and Oceania, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was near 68% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Australia (X units), comprising a 25% share of total imports. The following importers - French Polynesia (X units) and New Caledonia (X units) - together made up 4.8% of total imports.

Imports into New Zealand increased at an average annual rate of +9.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, French Polynesia (+31.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, French Polynesia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +31.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, New Caledonia (-6.7%) and Australia (-26.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. New Zealand (+61 p.p.) and French Polynesia (+2.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Australia saw its share reduced by -65.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest particle accelerator importing markets in Australia and Oceania were New Zealand ($X), Australia ($X) and New Caledonia ($X), together comprising 94% of total imports. These countries were followed by French Polynesia, which accounted for a further 0.3%.

In terms of the main importing countries, French Polynesia, with a CAGR of +40.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Australia and Oceania amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 26% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 92% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per unit), while French Polynesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by French Polynesia (+7.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
