As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, oil dispensing pump imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 31%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Australia prevails in imports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 79% of total imports in 2021. New Zealand (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 7.5% share, followed by Fiji (6.8%). The following importers - Papua New Guinea (X units) and New Caledonia (X units) - each amounted to a 4% share of total imports.

At the same time, Fiji (+12.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, New Zealand (-1.4%), New Caledonia (-2.4%) and Papua New Guinea (-4.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Australia (+26 p.p.) and Fiji (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of New Caledonia (-2.3 p.p.), Papua New Guinea (-5.2 p.p.) and New Zealand (-9.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Australia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported petrol and oil dispensing pumps in Australia and Oceania, comprising 90% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by New Zealand ($X), with a 3% share of total imports. It was followed by Papua New Guinea, with a 2.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Australia amounted to +5.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: New Zealand (+7.8% per year) and Papua New Guinea (-1.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
