Overall, imports, however, showed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 62% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.
In value terms, plastic reservoir imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
Australia (X tons) and New Zealand (X tons) dominates imports structure, together creating 84% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Papua New Guinea (X tons), mixing up a 4.7% share of total imports. Nauru (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Nauru (with a CAGR of +23.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest plastic reservoir importing markets in Australia and Oceania were Australia ($X), New Zealand ($X) and Papua New Guinea ($X), with a combined 88% share of total imports. Nauru lagged somewhat behind, accounting for a further 1.8%.
Nauru, with a CAGR of +25.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in Australia and Oceania amounted to $X per ton, rising by 12% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 18%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
