Exports in Australia and Oceania
In 2022, shipments abroad of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus increased by 59% to X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, saw a noticeable descent. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, radar apparatus exports surged to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Australia was the largest exporter of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus in Australia and Oceania, with the volume of exports recording X units, which was approx. 67% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X units), creating a 32% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to radar apparatus exports from Australia stood at -6.3%. At the same time, New Zealand (+7.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, New Zealand emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +7.3% from 2012-2022. New Zealand (+21 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Australia saw its share reduced by -21.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Australia ($X) remains the largest radar apparatus supplier in Australia and Oceania, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by New Zealand ($X), with a 27% share of total exports.
In Australia, radar apparatus exports increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012-2022.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Australia and Oceania amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 55% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per unit), while New Zealand amounted to $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+8.5%).

Imports in Australia and Oceania
In 2022, supplies from abroad of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus increased by 11% to X units, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt setback. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, radar apparatus imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 17%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
Australia represented the key importer of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus in Australia and Oceania, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was approx. 75% of total imports in 2022. New Zealand (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 13% share, followed by French Polynesia (5.2%). Marshall Islands (X units) and Micronesia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to radar apparatus imports into Australia stood at -7.0%. At the same time, Micronesia (+33.5%), Marshall Islands (+33.0%), French Polynesia (+21.9%) and New Zealand (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Micronesia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +33.5% from 2012-2022. New Zealand (+6 p.p.), French Polynesia (+4.8 p.p.), Marshall Islands (+2.8 p.p.) and Micronesia (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Australia saw its share reduced by -15.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Australia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus in Australia and Oceania, comprising 82% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by New Zealand ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Marshall Islands, with a 1.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Australia was relatively modest. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: New Zealand (+2.9% per year) and Marshall Islands (+29.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Australia and Oceania amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -4.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 56%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($X per unit), while French Polynesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
