Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, rusks and toasted bread exports dropped to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw measured growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 185% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
New Zealand represented the main exporter of rusks, toasted bread and similar toasted products in Australia and Oceania, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was near 70% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Australia (X tons), making up a 28% share of total exports. New Caledonia (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
New Zealand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the rusks, toasted bread and similar toasted products exports, with a CAGR of +25.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, New Caledonia (+20.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Australia (-8.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of New Zealand increased by +57 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, New Zealand ($X) remains the largest rusks and toasted bread supplier in Australia and Oceania, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Australia ($X), with a 31% share of total exports.
In New Zealand, rusks and toasted bread exports expanded at an average annual rate of +32.2% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Australia (-9.2% per year) and New Caledonia (+20.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Australia and Oceania stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a mild slump. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports in Australia and Oceania
After two years of growth, overseas purchases of rusks, toasted bread and similar toasted products decreased by -10.8% to X tons in 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, rusks and toasted bread imports totaled $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 56% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Australia was the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which resulted at 85% of total imports. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X tons), comprising an 11% share of total imports. New Caledonia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Australia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of rusks, toasted bread and similar toasted products. At the same time, New Zealand (+7.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, New Zealand emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +7.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, New Caledonia (-1.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of New Zealand increased by +4.5 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
