Exports in Australia and Oceania
In 2021, shipments abroad of sanitary ware and parts of copper increased by 91% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 447% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, copper sanitary ware exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports posted prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 298% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Australia represented the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which amounted to 75% of total exports. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X tons), committing a 24% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to copper sanitary ware exports from Australia stood at -3.3%. New Zealand experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of New Zealand (+5.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Australia (-5.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Australia ($X) remains the largest copper sanitary ware supplier in Australia and Oceania, comprising 82% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by New Zealand ($X), with an 18% share of total exports.
In Australia, copper sanitary ware exports increased at an average annual rate of +18.8% over the period from 2012-2021.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Australia and Oceania amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 1.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 152% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of sanitary ware and parts of copper was finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 46%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, copper sanitary ware imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +48.0% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Australia dominates imports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 92% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X tons), generating a 5.4% share of total imports. Papua New Guinea (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to copper sanitary ware imports into Australia stood at +4.2%. At the same time, Papua New Guinea (+32.9%) and New Zealand (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Papua New Guinea emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +32.9% from 2012-2021. The shares of the largest importers remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Australia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported sanitary ware and parts of copper in Australia and Oceania, comprising 93% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by New Zealand ($X), with a 5.8% share of total imports.
In Australia, copper sanitary ware imports increased at an average annual rate of +9.6% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: New Zealand (+7.0% per year) and Papua New Guinea (+22.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Australia and Oceania stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 9.3% against the previous year. Import price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($X per ton), while Papua New Guinea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+5.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
