Australia prevails in exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 98% of total exports in 2022. New Zealand (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Australia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the spinach exports, with a CAGR of +13.2% from 2012 to 2022. New Zealand (-18.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Australia (+33 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while New Zealand saw its share reduced by -31.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Australia ($X) remains the largest spinach supplier in Australia and Oceania, comprising 98% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by New Zealand ($X), with a 2% share of total exports.

The export price in Australia and Oceania stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -1.6% against the previous year. Export price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last decade. In 2022, overseas purchases of spinach increased by 7.1% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports recorded a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 217%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, spinach imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a mild contraction. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Australia (X tons) and New Zealand (X tons) were the key importers of spinach in Australia and Oceania, together achieving 79% of total imports. French Polynesia (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 13% share, followed by Fiji (7.7%).
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by New Zealand (with a CAGR of +36.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, French Polynesia ($X), New Zealand ($X) and Fiji ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 83% of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, New Zealand, with a CAGR of +44.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Australia and Oceania stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 457% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a deep reduction. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was French Polynesia ($X per ton), while Australia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
