Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 35%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, hand stamp imports dropped to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.
Imports by Country
Australia prevails in imports structure, finishing at X units, which was near 86% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X units), creating an 8.7% share of total imports. Papua New Guinea (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Australia decreased at an average annual rate of -3.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, New Zealand (+4.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, New Zealand emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +4.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Papua New Guinea (-2.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of New Zealand increased by +4.5 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Australia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported stamps for use in the hand in Australia and Oceania, comprising 87% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by New Zealand ($X), with an 8.8% share of total imports.
