The tin market in Australia and Oceania dropped modestly to $X in 2022, which is down by -4.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a slight decline. In value terms, tin exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 68,439%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The shipments of the one major exporters of tin, namely Australia, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

In 2022, Australia (X tons) was the key importer of tin, generating 84% of total imports. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X tons), creating a 15% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to tin imports into Australia stood at -3.9%. New Zealand (-2.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Australia (+4.4 p.p.) and New Zealand (+2.6 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Australia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported tin in Australia and Oceania, comprising 76% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by New Zealand ($X), with a 23% share of total imports.
