Exports in Australia and Oceania
Rubber tube and pipe exports surged to X tons in 2021, growing by 16% on 2020 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, rubber tube and pipe exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 38%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Australia (X tons) represented the main exporter of tubes, pipes and hoses of vulcanized rubber, constituting 74% of total exports. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X tons), committing a 25% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to rubber tube and pipe exports from Australia stood at -6.8%. At the same time, New Zealand (+16.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. The export price in Australia and Oceania stood at $X per ton in 2021, leveling off at the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate notable growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the export price increased by 43% against the previous year. In 2021, purchases abroad of tubes, pipes and hoses of vulcanized rubber was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2015, thus ending a five-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, showed a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, rubber tube and pipe imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Australia represented the largest importer of tubes, pipes and hoses of vulcanized rubber in Australia and Oceania, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 84% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X tons), committing a 13% share of total imports. Papua New Guinea (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.
Imports into Australia decreased at an average annual rate of -11.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, New Zealand (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, New Zealand emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Australia and Oceania, with a CAGR of +2.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Papua New Guinea (-6.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of New Zealand increased by +9 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
