The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, imports of u-sections of non-alloy steel in Australia and Oceania fell remarkably to X tons, with a decrease of -31.6% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a modest increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 130%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.
In value terms, non-alloy steel u-section imports shrank sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a notable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 138%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
Imports by Country
Australia (X tons) and New Zealand (X tons) dominates imports structure, together making up 95% of total imports. Papua New Guinea (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Papua New Guinea (with a CAGR of +17.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
In value terms, Australia ($X), New Zealand ($X) and Papua New Guinea ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 99% share of total imports.
Papua New Guinea, with a CAGR of +17.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Australia and Oceania stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 24% against the previous year. Import price indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last decade.
