In 2021, Australia (X tons) represented the key exporter of wheat starch in Australia and Oceania, comprising 99.9% of total export.

Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, wheat starch imports declined to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 33%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2020, and then fell slightly in the following year.
Imports by Country
New Zealand prevails in imports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. 88% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Australia (X tons), committing a 7.9% share of total imports. Fiji (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
New Zealand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the wheat starch imports, with a CAGR of +14.3% from 2012 to 2021. Australia (-2.2%) and Fiji (-6.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of New Zealand increased by +27 percentage points.
In value terms, New Zealand ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported wheat starch in Australia and Oceania, comprising 78% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Australia ($X), with a 16% share of total imports.
