In 2022, overseas shipments of wooden furniture for kitchens were finally on the rise to reach X units after three years of decline. Overall, exports recorded notable growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 75% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, wooden kitchen furniture exports rose markedly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -35.2% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Australia was the major exporter of wooden furniture for kitchens in Australia and Oceania, with the volume of exports resulting at X units, which was approx. 87% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X units), achieving a 10% share of total exports. New Caledonia (X units) took a minor share of total exports.

In 2022, the export price in Australia and Oceania amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -1.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 54%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, wooden kitchen furniture imports totaled $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Australia was the key importer of wooden furniture for kitchens in Australia and Oceania, with the volume of imports resulting at X units, which was near 79% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X units), comprising a 16% share of total imports. New Caledonia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
