The Netherlands (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) were the main destinations of aromatic polyamines exports from Australia, with a combined 54% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Chile, Brazil, Egypt and China, which together accounted for a further 36%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Egypt (with a CAGR of +187.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the key foreign market for aromatic polyamines and their derivatives, salts thereof exports from Australia, comprising 62% of total exports. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Singapore totaled +35.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+79.4% per year) and Brazil (+42.1% per year).

Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, purchases abroad of aromatic polyamines and their derivatives, salts thereof increased by 2.1% to X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year declining trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, aromatic polyamines imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Switzerland (X tons) were the main suppliers of aromatic polyamines imports to Australia, together comprising 77% of total imports. These countries were followed by Japan, Belgium, Taiwan (Chinese) and the UK, which together accounted for a further 22%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the UK (with a CAGR of +164.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
