Imports into Australia
In 2021, the amount of chlorates and perchlorates, bromates and perbromates, iodates and periodates imported into Australia expanded sharply to X tons, with an increase of 15% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible descent. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, chlorates, bromates and iodates imports rose sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a pronounced decrease. In 2021, Canada (X tons) was the main supplier of chlorates, bromates and iodates to Australia, with a 90% share of total imports. Moreover, chlorates, bromates and iodates imports from Canada exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), more than tenfold.
