After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of automotive lighting increased by 27% to X units in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a perceptible decline. Imports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, automotive lighting imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

China (X units), Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) and Japan (X units) were the main suppliers of automotive lighting imports to Australia, with a combined 61% share of total imports.
