In 2021, the amount of envelopes imported into Australia contracted to X tons, waning by -10.8% on the previous year. Overall, imports showed a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 8.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, envelope imports fell modestly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a noticeable shrinkage. New Zealand (X tons), China (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) were the main suppliers of envelope imports to Australia, with a combined 76% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Malaysia, Thailand, India and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 20%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +110.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
