As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

New Zealand (X units) was the main destination for lifting equipment exports from Australia, with a 93% share of total exports. Moreover, lifting equipment exports to New Zealand exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Indonesia (X units), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to New Zealand stood at +39.1%.
In value terms, New Zealand ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for lifting equipment exports from Australia, comprising 66% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Indonesia ($X), with a 5.6% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to New Zealand stood at +28.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (+6.9% per year) and Malaysia (-7.3% per year).

In 2021, the average lifting equipment export price amounted to $X per unit, declining by -66.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 106%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to New Zealand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+38.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Australia
In 2021, the amount of lifting equipment imported into Australia dropped rapidly to X units, waning by -23.9% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, recorded strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 222%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2020, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
In value terms, lifting equipment imports totaled $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 99% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

The United States (X units), China (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main suppliers of lifting equipment imports to Australia, with a combined 80% share of total imports. Italy, France, Norway, Sweden, New Zealand, the UK and Denmark lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 15%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Norway (with a CAGR of +91.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X), Germany ($X) and Norway ($X) were the largest lifting equipment suppliers to Australia, together comprising 58% of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, Norway, with a CAGR of +67.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($X per unit), while the price for the United States ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
