In value terms, electronic lamp machine exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a dramatic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 459%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
China (X units) was the main destination for electronic lamp machine exports from Australia, accounting for a 90% share of total exports. Moreover, electronic lamp machine exports to China exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Tanzania (X units), more than tenfold. The Philippines (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.3% share.

In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt contraction. Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Tanzania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of machines for electric or electronic lamps, tubes, valves or flashbulbs decreased by -27.6% to X units for the first time since 2015, thus ending a five-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 8,000%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2020, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
In value terms, electronic lamp machine imports reduced dramatically to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 1,264% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then declined remarkably in the following year.
Imports by Country
South Africa (X units), the UK (X units) and China (X units) were the main suppliers of electronic lamp machine imports to Australia, with a combined 99% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by South Africa (with a CAGR of +37.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the UK ($X), South Africa ($X) and China ($X) were the largest electronic lamp machine suppliers to Australia, together comprising 85% of total imports.
South Africa, with a CAGR of +59.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
