In value terms, non-alloy aluminium bar exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a slight slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 228% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
New Zealand (X tons) was the main destination for non-alloy aluminium bar exports from Australia, accounting for a 42% share of total exports. Moreover, non-alloy aluminium bar exports to New Zealand exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), twofold. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to New Zealand stood at -4.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+18.9% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+45.6% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X), Singapore ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the largest markets for non-alloy aluminium bar exported from Australia worldwide, with a combined 51% share of total exports.
The United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +52.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average non-alloy aluminium bar export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a strong expansion. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to New Zealand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Australia
In 2021, purchases abroad of non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles decreased by -6.6% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, imports showed a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 36%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-alloy aluminium bar imports rose sharply to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 33%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Malaysia (X tons), New Zealand (X tons) and Oman (X tons) were the main suppliers of non-alloy aluminium bar imports to Australia, with a combined 83% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Oman (with a CAGR of +834.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-alloy aluminium bar suppliers to Australia were New Zealand ($X), Malaysia ($X) and China ($X), with a combined 79% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Oman and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 10%.
Oman, with a CAGR of +769.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
