From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The Philippines (X tons) was the main destination for sodium phosphates exports from Australia, accounting for a 62% share of total exports. Moreover, sodium phosphates exports to the Philippines exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, New Zealand (X tons), threefold.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Papua New Guinea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+32.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third year in a row, Australia recorded decline in supplies from abroad of phosphates of mono- or di-sodium, which decreased by -8.4% to X tons in 2021. In general, total imports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -28.1% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 108% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, sodium phosphates imports rose notably to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -14.6% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 75% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of sodium phosphates to Australia, with a 61% share of total imports. Moreover, sodium phosphates imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Thailand (X tons), twofold. The United States (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6.5% share.

Import Prices by Country
The average sodium phosphates import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 32%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
