Imports into Australia
In 2021, after four years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of pliers, pincers and tweezers for nonmedical use, when their volume increased by 51% to X tons. In general, imports, however, recorded a perceptible setback. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, pliers and pincers imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

China (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) were the main suppliers of pliers and pincers imports to Australia, together comprising 65% of total imports. These countries were followed by the United States, Pakistan, France, Japan, Vietnam and the UK, which together accounted for a further 29%.
