Papua New Guinea (X kg) was the main destination for sulphides of non-metals exports from Australia, accounting for a 42% share of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by New Zealand ($X), with a 9.8% share of total exports. It was followed by the Philippines, with a 9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Papua New Guinea stood at -24.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: New Zealand (-42.4% per year) and the Philippines (0.0% per year).

Imports into Australia
In 2021, sulphides of non-metals imports into Australia surged to X tons, rising by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt contraction. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, sulphides of non-metals imports declined modestly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a noticeable decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) were the main suppliers of sulphides of non-metals imports to Australia, together accounting for 25% of total imports. These countries were followed by Japan, Germany, India, Singapore and the United States, which together accounted for a further 17%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +12.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, India ($X) constituted the largest supplier of sulphides of non-metals and commercial phosphorus trisulphide to Australia, comprising 33% of total imports. Based on 2021 figures, sulphides of non-metals import price increased by +54.2% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 32% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
