In 2021, the average organic pigments export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 21% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 23% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+15.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Organic pigments imports into Australia soared to X tons in 2021, with an increase of 16% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, recorded a mild decline. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, organic pigments imports totaled $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, India (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of organic pigments to Australia, with a 51% share of total imports. Moreover, organic pigments imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), twofold. The United States (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from India was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-4.2% per year) and the United States (-4.7% per year).
