In 2021, purchases abroad of unvulcanised rubber increased by 69% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, unvulcanised rubber imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Thailand (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of unvulcanised rubber imports to Australia, with a combined 87% share of total imports. South Africa, Indonesia, Lithuania and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 10%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Indonesia (with a CAGR of +277.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
