The United States (X units), Singapore (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main destinations of x-ray tube exports from Australia, together accounting for 56% of total exports. Japan, the UK, Vietnam, South Korea, New Zealand, Turkey, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Malaysia and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 39%.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of x-ray tubes decreased by -0.1% to X units, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -31.2% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year.
