Italy (X tons), Slovenia (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of biodiesel exports from Austria, with a combined 88% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Hungary, Croatia, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the Czech Republic, which together accounted for a further 12%.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -12.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 48%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, biodiesel imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, posted a temperate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 53%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
