In value terms, sulphite wood pulp exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 2,392%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, sulphite wood pulp imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a perceptible downturn. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Germany (X tons) was the main supplier of sulphite wood pulp to Austria, accounting for a 91% share of total imports. Moreover, sulphite wood pulp imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Slovakia (X tons), more than tenfold.
