In 2022, the average cocoa bean export price amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 64% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 467%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+31.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Austria
In 2022, supplies from abroad of cocoa beans increased by 11% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In general, imports enjoyed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 208%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, cocoa bean imports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 180% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons), France (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of cocoa bean imports to Austria, together accounting for 95% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +196.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), France ($X) and Belgium ($X) constituted the largest cocoa bean suppliers to Austria, with a combined 95% share of total imports.
