Italy (X tons), Slovenia (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main destinations of currant and gooseberry exports from Austria, with a combined 86% share of total exports. Romania, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 12%.

Imports into Austria
In 2021, overseas purchases of currants and gooseberries increased by 29% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, recorded a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 70% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, currant and gooseberry imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Poland (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of currant and gooseberry imports to Austria, with a combined 95% share of total imports. The Czech Republic and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 4.6%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Belgium (with a CAGR of +383.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
