Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 72%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, maize starch imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Hungary (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of maize starch imports to Austria, with a combined 63% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +90.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
