For the third year in a row, the Austrian mate market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 122% to $X in 2022. Overall, consumption continues to indicate a significant expansion. Mate consumption peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of mate decreased by -23% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 161%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined rapidly in the following year.

In 2022, mate imports into Austria soared to X tons, growing by 80% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 190%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, mate imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 149%.
