The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 15% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-wheat flour exports rose slightly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a mild curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 36%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Italy (X tons), Croatia (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of non-wheat flour exports from Austria, with a combined 51% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Romania and Serbia, which together accounted for a further 39%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Greece (with a CAGR of +18.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Croatia ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for non-wheat flour exported from Austria worldwide, together comprising 55% of total exports. There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Croatia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth year in a row, Austria recorded growth in overseas purchases of non-wheat flours, which increased by 7.5% to X tons in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +127.0% against 2014 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, non-wheat flour imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Germany (X tons), Italy (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of non-wheat flour imports to Austria, together comprising 95% of total imports.
