Permanent Magnet Market Size in Austria

The Austrian permanent magnet market fell to $X in 2021, which is down by -6.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption continues to indicate a deep contraction. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Italy (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main destinations of permanent magnet exports from Austria, with a combined 57% share of total exports. Hungary, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Cyprus and France lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 31%.

Overall, total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -24.4% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 34%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

China (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of permanent magnet imports to Austria, together comprising 87% of total imports. The Czech Republic, Spain, Italy and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 7%.
