The Austrian fromwork market fell notably to $X in 2022, dropping by -71.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a buoyant expansion. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then shrank notably in the following year.

The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 44%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Germany (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main destinations of fromwork exports from Austria, together comprising 33% of total exports. France, the United States, Switzerland, Italy, India, Saudi Arabia, Bulgaria, Romania, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 135% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Overall, total imports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +57.9% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 111% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The Czech Republic (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of fromwork imports to Austria, together comprising 75% of total imports. Slovenia, Poland, Hungary and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.
