Beef Market Size in Azerbaijan

The United Arab Emirates (X tons) was the main destination for beef exports from Azerbaijan, with a approx. 100% share of total exports.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 70%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

In value terms, beef imports reduced sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 92% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

In 2021, Ukraine (X tons) constituted the largest beef supplier to Azerbaijan, accounting for a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, beef imports from Ukraine exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Belarus (X tons), with a 16% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Ukraine totaled +40.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (-12.6% per year) and Belarus (+161.2% per year).

In value terms, Ukraine ($X) constituted the largest supplier of beef (cattle meat) to Azerbaijan, comprising 46% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Georgia ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Ukraine totaled +43.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Georgia (+56.3% per year) and Belarus (+168.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average beef import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 5.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price posted a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
