Toy Market Size in Azerbaijan
In 2021, the Azerbaijani toy market increased by less than 0.1% to $X, rising for the fifth year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +80.9% against 2016 indices. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, toy production fell to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. For the sixth year in a row, Azerbaijan recorded growth in overseas shipments of dolls and toys, which increased by 39% to X tons in 2021. In general, exports recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 816%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country
Kazakhstan (X tons), the UK (X tons) and Turkey (X kg) were the main destinations of toy exports from Azerbaijan, together accounting for 60% of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Russia, Romania, South Korea, France, Brazil, the Netherlands, Qatar, Australia and Malaysia, which together accounted for a further 24%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Brazil (with a CAGR of +88.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X), the UK ($X) and the United States ($X) were the largest markets for toy exported from Azerbaijan worldwide, with a combined 56% share of total exports.
Kazakhstan, with a CAGR of +77.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average toy export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, shrinking by -28.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a temperate expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 56%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Qatar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+10.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Azerbaijan
After two years of decline, purchases abroad of dolls and toys increased by 21% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 560% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, toy imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports posted a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 441% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of toy to Azerbaijan, with a 78% share of total imports. Moreover, toy imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Iran (X tons), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Turkey (X tons), with a 3.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +71.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Iran (+86.7% per year) and Turkey (+17.6% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of dolls and toys to Azerbaijan, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Iran ($X), with a 6.4% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 3.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +68.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Iran (+104.9% per year) and Turkey (+24.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average toy import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 6.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 37%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per ton), while the price for Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
