Fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine exports from Azerbaijan was estimated at X tons in 2021, growing by 4% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine exports expanded slightly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a noticeable decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 35%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
India (X tons) was the main destination for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine exports from Azerbaijan, accounting for a 67% share of total exports. Moreover, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine exports to India exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, China (X tons), fourfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to India amounted to +10.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (-12.1% per year) and Russia (+1.3% per year).
In value terms, India ($X) remains the key foreign market for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines exports from Azerbaijan, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Russia ($X), with a 20% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to India stood at +8.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (+2.9% per year) and China (-13.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average export price for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines stood at $X per ton in 2021, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 36%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromine and Iodine
Imports into Azerbaijan
Fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine imports into Azerbaijan reduced markedly to X tons in 2021, waning by -40.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports faced a precipitous shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 8.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine imports reduced to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X tons) was the main supplier of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine to Azerbaijan, with a 91% share of total imports. Moreover, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Russia totaled -23.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+58.2% per year) and Turkey (-11.3% per year).
In value terms, Russia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines to Azerbaijan, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with an 18% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Russia amounted to -11.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+95.2% per year) and Turkey (-2.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average import price for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 56% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a prominent increase. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+23.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
