Ukraine (X units), Kazakhstan (X units) and Russia (X units) were the main destinations of plastic furniture exports from Azerbaijan, with a combined 86% share of total exports.

The average plastic furniture export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 21% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a deep downturn. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2013 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (-16.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2021, purchases abroad of furniture of plastic decreased by -3.9% to X units, falling for the third year in a row after four years of growth. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 211%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic furniture imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -3.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 86% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Turkey (X units) constituted the largest plastic furniture supplier to Azerbaijan, accounting for a 58% share of total imports. Moreover, plastic furniture imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Iran (X units), with an 8.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Turkey stood at +10.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+35.6% per year) and Iran (+57.6% per year).

In value terms, Turkey ($X), Israel ($X) and China ($X) were the largest plastic furniture suppliers to Azerbaijan, with a combined 80% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Iran, Italy and Ukraine, which together accounted for a further 13%.

Italy, with a CAGR of +42.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average plastic furniture import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 52% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 123% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while the price for Iran ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
