Animal Guts Market Size in Azerbaijan
The Azerbaijani animal guts market fell modestly to $X in 2022, which is down by -2.2% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 150% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
In value terms, animal guts exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 82%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
Hong Kong SAR (X tons) was the main destination for animal guts exports from Azerbaijan, with a 54% share of total exports. Moreover, animal guts exports to Hong Kong SAR exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Vietnam (X tons), threefold. Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Hong Kong SAR totaled +73.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (+36.6% per year) and Cote d'Ivoire (+400.0% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for animal guts exported from Azerbaijan were Hong Kong SAR ($X), the United States ($X) and Turkey ($X), together comprising 75% of total exports. Vietnam, Georgia, Cote d'Ivoire and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 23%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of +356.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average animal guts export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 73% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a tangible increase. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+890.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Azerbaijan
In 2022, overseas purchases of guts, bladders and stomachs of animals decreased by -22.2% to X tons for the first time since 2015, thus ending a six-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 516% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
In value terms, animal guts imports fell markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 176%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest animal guts supplier to Azerbaijan, with a 82% share of total imports. Moreover, animal guts imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Uzbekistan (X tons), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Tajikistan (X tons), with a 3.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Russia totaled +203.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uzbekistan (+2.2% per year) and Tajikistan (+0.3% per year).
In value terms, Russia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of guts, bladders and stomachs of animals to Azerbaijan, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 25% share of total imports. It was followed by Tajikistan, with a 6.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Russia totaled +157.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uzbekistan (+2.2% per year) and Tajikistan (+0.3% per year).

In 2022, the average animal guts import price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -3.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 22% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Tajikistan ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Georgia (+37.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
