In 2022, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons, when their volume increased by 55% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 184%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports posted resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 337%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of halogenated hydrocarbon derivative to Azerbaijan, with a 81% share of total imports. Moreover, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), sevenfold. India (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +34.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (-15.0% per year) and India (+103.9% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons to Azerbaijan, comprising 90% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 5.1% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 1.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to +44.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (-5.8% per year) and Germany (+12.7% per year).

In 2022, the average halogenated hydrocarbon derivative import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 148%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2018; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+14.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
