Hazelnut Market Size in Azerbaijan

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 12,165% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, hazelnut exports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. In general, exports posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 20,411%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Uzbekistan (X tons) was the main destination for hazelnut exports from Azerbaijan, with a 68% share of total exports. Moreover, hazelnut exports to Uzbekistan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Russia (X tons), twofold. Lithuania (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 2.1% share.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 5,388%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, hazelnut imports shrank to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 10,996%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Georgia (X tons) constituted the largest hazelnut supplier to Azerbaijan, with a 68% share of total imports. Moreover, hazelnut imports from Georgia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), twofold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Georgia stood at +11.1%.

In value terms, the largest hazelnut suppliers to Azerbaijan were Georgia ($X) and Turkey ($X).
