Metal Washer Market Size in Azerbaijan

In 2021, the Azerbaijani metal washer market decreased by -14.5% to $X for the first time since 2015, thus ending a five-year rising trend. Overall, consumption, however, showed a strong expansion. Metal washer consumption peaked at $X in 2020, and then fell in the following year.

In 2021, after four years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of iron or steel washers, when their volume increased by 335% to X kg. Overall, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 3,793% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, metal washer exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a significant expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

The UK (X kg), Georgia (X kg) and Russia (X kg) were the main destinations of metal washer exports from Azerbaijan, together accounting for 80% of total exports. The Netherlands, Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 18%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Kazakhstan (with a CAGR of +40.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the UK ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for iron or steel washers exports from Azerbaijan, comprising 59% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a 24% share of total exports. It was followed by Russia, with a 7.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the UK totaled +23.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+29.3% per year) and Russia (+2.5% per year).

The average metal washer export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 62% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 254%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kuwait (+49.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, after five years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of iron or steel washers, when their volume decreased by -9.7% to X tons. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 231%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, metal washer imports declined rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, posted a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 104%. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of metal washer to Azerbaijan, with a 65% share of total imports. Moreover, metal washer imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), threefold. Russia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +33.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+10.4% per year) and Russia (+2.9% per year).

In value terms, the largest metal washer suppliers to Azerbaijan were China ($X), the UK ($X) and Turkey ($X), together accounting for 50% of total imports.

China, with a CAGR of +20.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average metal washer import price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -19.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 81% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
