Exports from Azerbaijan
Paper label exports from Azerbaijan soared to X tons in 2021, surging by 2,035% compared with the year before. Overall, exports showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 8,310%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, paper label exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 34,960% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Georgia (X kg), Spain (X kg) and Kuwait (X kg) were the main destinations of paper label exports from Azerbaijan, together comprising 76% of total exports. These countries were followed by Kazakhstan, Norway, Jordan and Russia, which together accounted for a further 22%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Norway (with a CAGR of +889.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for paper label exported from Azerbaijan were Georgia ($X), Spain ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X), together comprising 85% of total exports. Norway, Jordan, Kuwait and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 14%.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 1,652%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kuwait ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Azerbaijan
In 2021, supplies from abroad of labels of paper or paperboard decreased by -3.8% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 113%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, paper label imports reduced slightly to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -25.6% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 63% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Turkey (X tons) constituted the largest paper label supplier to Azerbaijan, accounting for a 40% share of total imports. Moreover, paper label imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Russia (X tons), with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Turkey amounted to +6.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+24.6% per year) and Russia (+66.2% per year).
In value terms, Turkey ($X), Ukraine ($X) and Russia ($X) appeared to be the largest paper label suppliers to Azerbaijan, together comprising 76% of total imports. China, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Iran, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.
Among the main suppliers, Belarus, with a CAGR of +103.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average paper label import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 2.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 10%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per ton), while the price for Sri Lanka ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
