The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 7.3% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2017, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, other chemical products exports declined to $X in 2017. Over the period under review, exports faced a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 24% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2017, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

China (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Russia (X tons) were the main destinations of other chemical products exports from Azerbaijan, together comprising 82% of total exports. Brazil, Ukraine, Germany, Japan and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 14%.

From 2012 to 2017, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Germany (with a CAGR of +2.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, China ($X), Belgium ($X) and Russia ($X) constituted the largest markets for other chemical products exported from Azerbaijan worldwide, with a combined 78% share of total exports. In general, export price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2017: its price increased at an average annual rate of +9.8% over the last five-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2017 figures, other chemical products export price increased by +71.0% against 2014 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 26% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2017 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2017, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2017, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+51.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Azerbaijan

In 2017, approx. X tons of other chemical products were imported into Azerbaijan; which is down by -19.5% against the previous year. Overall, imports continue to indicate a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then declined sharply in the following year.

In value terms, other chemical products imports stood at $X in 2017. In general, imports continue to indicate a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 7.8%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2017, imports remained at a lower figure.

Turkey (X tons), the UK (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of other chemical products imports to Azerbaijan, with a combined 59% share of total imports. Russia, the United States, Germany, Egypt, Iran, France, the Netherlands and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.

From 2012 to 2017, the biggest increases were recorded for Egypt (with a CAGR of +450.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest other chemical products suppliers to Azerbaijan were the UK ($X), the United States ($X) and Italy ($X), together comprising 62% of total imports. France, Turkey, Germany, Russia, Egypt, the Netherlands, Iran and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 31%.

Egypt, with a CAGR of +263.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average other chemical products import price stood at $X per ton in 2017, with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a pronounced contraction. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2017, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2017, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+30.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
